APPW promoter Waldo Wagner was having trouble keeping female talent around, as the worst heels, Spooky Sayaka Hayes and Mymphis Morbia, formed an alliance, interfering in each other's matches week after week—making Wagner's life difficult.

One evening, the duo were setting up to injure APPW women's petalweight champion "Jolly" Holly Appleseed's knee with an assisted figure-four leglock, as they did to Coretta Congo a week prior. Wagner begged them not to, as his women's division would be in jeopardy if the champion were injured. As they taunted Wagner and ignored his cries to stop the carnage, a masked luchadora in purple and orange emerged from the crowd, leaping over the guardrails and dodging security.

She attacked Sayaka and Morbia—dropkick after dropkick, as they fled the ring to figure out what was happening. They believed they were being attacked by multiple people, as this luchadora was all over the ring. When security attempted to grab the luchadora, Wagner ordered them to halt. She shook hands with a limping Appleseed while Wagner smiled at the woman who had just saved his women's division from two rebellious women.

Wagner offered this mysterious luchadora a contract. She revealed no personal details other than her moniker, "Lunita Lunes," and that she was from Jalisco and had traveled the world in search of competition. She was granted an APPW contract.
