Born and raised in Damascus, Syria, she had no chance of realizing her dream of becoming an Olympic wrestler because the Syrian Olympic Committee had historically refused to allow women to compete on the grand stage. But that didn't stop Yasirah Yassin from pursuing wrestling, eventually becoming one of the most feared catch-as-catch-can grapplers in All Petalverse Pro Wrestling (APPW).

While working as a bus driver in Damascus, Yasirah spent her life savings on a trip to London, England, to attend the Scorpion Tank Wrestling Academy under the legendary catch wrestler Coach Sergio Hackenschmidt. She became the academy's first female graduate, earning her the nickname "The Syrian Scorpion."

Yasirah went back to Syria to teach others what she had learned at the Academy and faced scrutiny, but she was no longer the same person she had been before. She was more aggressive and dared anyone to get in her way of accomplishing her goals. She created the Syrian Pro Wrestling League (SPWL) for young women who wanted to wrestle. Unfortunately, she faced numerous hurdles and lacked financial support.

After learning that her Scorpion Tank teammate, Norman the ISSAC, had traveled to the United States to compete for APPW, she had one thing on her mind: visiting the United States with her pro wrestling trainees. The trainees saved up money, but they gave it to Yasirah to travel to the United States and represent them. Touched by their sacrifice, Yasirah agreed and vowed to make them proud and repay the debt she believed she owed.

APPW Recruitment

While outside Calico Aster Regional Airport in Sweggy Hills and approaching a cab, she was harassed by a male passenger for wearing a hijab. The rude passenger tossed water at her. The cab driver, APPW Petalstar "Dandelion" Danny Stubbs, stepped out of the vehicle to confront the man, but when he looked up, the man was already in the air. Danny stood frozen for a few seconds before telling Yasirah to get in his cab.

While driving, Danny informed Yasirah who he was and insisted that she try pro wrestling, but that was exactly why Yasirah was in Calico Aster. Danny introduced Yasirah to APPW promoter Waldo Wagner, but Wagner already knew her. He had seen the headlines about Scorpion Tank's first female catch wrestler. Wagner immediately offered her a contract and arranged for Yassin to attend the Calico Aster Path to Citizenship program, led by councilmember and mayoral candidate Zara Halliburton. However, there was only one problem—the program for pro wrestlers requires a babyface PSE score.

PSE Score

The Petersburg Screening Evaluation score, administered by Dr. Edna Petersburg, is regulated by the Calico Aster Athletic Commission and governed by the City of Calico Aster. The PSE determines if a pro wrestler is a heel (below 50/100) or a babyface (above 50/100), as part of a public safety initiative.

She did not qualify for the citizenship program in Calico Aster as a pro wrestler. Still, Yasirah was quickly recruited by Lucija Rojas of the Lucija Federation in Moolah City, who owns a private wrestling company and has a Calico Aster pro wrestling manager's license. Lucija promised to help Yasirah get situated, hoping she could exploit her talents as a Scorpion Tank graduate while representing her in APPW.

Antics:

• Yasirah carries a microphone to the ring to remind everyone that she is from Syria. Sometimes, the announcement is met with boos, but that makes her more aggressive in the ring, as a similar situation happened to APPW Heavyweight Champion Raheem Rahim Raheim.

• Yasirah is almost unstoppable when it comes to grappling, but strangely, she throws cheap shots and breaks the rules when the referee is not looking, only because she hates rules, something that has been her biggest obstacle. Perhaps this is what Dr. Petersburg saw.
